Manavata Cancer Centre is the first and only Centre in North Maharashtra to have this advance technology setup and also among the few top-notch institutions in the country to offer such advance treatment facilities, which also include a range of innovative methods such as Image-guided Radiotherapy (IGRT), VMATand more.
Speaking on this, Dr. Raj Nagarkar, MD & Chief of Surgical Oncology and Robotic Services, HCG Manavata Cancer Centre, said, “The radiation oncology department plays a very critical role in providing state-of-the-art cancer treatment leading to positive outcomes and added advantages like fewer complications, reduced hospitalizations, and lesser treatment time. Our department also offers state-of-the-art facilities such as Deep Inspiratory Breath Hold Technique (DIBH), ABC (Active Breathing Coordination) which are newer practices in oncology and with the best oncologists in the country leading the department, we are excited to see what the future holds for us.”
Key features of Tomo Therapy include, verifying the tumour location before treatment, targeting tumours with optimum radiation levels with minimal damage to healthy tissues and reducing the impact of radiation side effects. Apart from the technology advancement, HCG Manavata Cancer Centre also has experienced radio-oncologist available 24X7 at the Radiation Oncology Department. The hospital anticipates that with Tomo Therapy radiation therapy and other leading technology offering, the oncology department will be able to treat another 5,000 patients over the next two years.
